Zero Waste Steel Production

Steel CleanUp is a groundbreaking technology that transforms waste streams into valuable materials for steel production and other industries such as rubber manufacturing, wastewater treatment, and building materials. By regenerating chemicals using green electricity, the process leaves no waste and generates no emissions while avoiding significant emissions from virgin materials. The integration of carbon capture further mitigates Scope 1 emissions, even enabling negative emissions.

Solids Feed

Waste streams are introduced alongside regenerated circular chemicals produced with green electricity.

Separation

The process segregates waste into high-purity components, depending on the treated waste. For slags this results into high-purity products such as Silica, Calcium and Magnesium.

Finished Products

End-products are refined to meet industry-specific standards, ready for reuse in steel production or other applications.

Recycle

Process liquids are recycled into fresh chemicals using green electricity, ensuring a sustainable loop back to Step 1.

Application areas

Steel production

Handles waste such as slags, pickling sludge, filter dust, grindings, and millscale from both carbon and stainless steel production. Outputs include metals, calcium (hydr)oxide, and magnesium (hydr)oxide.

Rubber production

Yields high-purity, high quality silica (>99%) suitable for various rubber applications, amongst others. Our products are free from emissions, offering significant potential for GHG emissions reductions.
