The experience of:
‘The decision to put my knowledge and experience to work for a company that is in the middle of the energy transition was an easy one to make.’
– Lisanne van der Hijden, Funding & Treasury Manager
After eight and a half years working at KPMG Corporate Finance – a great start to my working life – it was time for some more adventure.
This coincided with a very pleasant conversation I had with the CFO of SCW Philip Janssen, a former colleague.
Two weeks later I visited the plant in Alkmaar, a very different environment to the large offices I was used to, but it immediately felt very familiar.
What they were working on was so tangible, so the decision to put my knowledge and experience to work for a company that is in the middle of the energy transition was an easy one to make.
Since I started at SCW, not a day goes by without some sort of cake. It is a warm working environment with personal attention, a real family business. It is a very informal company; at our plant in Alkmaar everything is mixed together, engineers, chemical researchers, operators and management.
For me, working at SCW provides the perfect work-life balance: the workload is not too high, but it is not your standard 9 to 5 job either. We work together enthusiastically to achieve ambitious milestones – but I also have every other Friday off.
The company is growing rapidly and every day is different, so you see a lot, learn a lot and can grow with the organisation. Every day I am still happy that I took the plunge, and I am curious what this adventure will bring me in the years to come.
